TLC’s Reunion, Rihanna’s Icon Award, and Other AMA Highlights

The 20th annual American Music Awards celebrated a year of music by honoring music fans’ favorite artists. The evening was filled with some hit, miss, and head scratching performances.  Check out some of the highlights below.

Lady Gaga and R. Kelly got raunchy in the oval office performing, “Do What U Want.”

TLC’s Chili and T-Boz  reunited for a lip-synced version of their classic song, “Waterfalls. ”  Brooklyn rapper, Lil’ Mama, who convincing portrayed the late  Lisa Lopez  in the TLC VH1 biopic, took the stage with the group. While it was good to see the throwback moves, the performance has received mixed reactions.

Rihanna’s mother presented her with the AMA Icon Award, in a touching moment that even had Justin Timberlake commenting.

Speaking of Justin Timberlake, who won both R&B/Soul awards up for grabs this year, slowed things down with “Drink You Away.”

Although Kendrick did not walk away with the award for favorite hip-hop/rap  , he proved that he is certainly award worthy  in his performance of his hit,  “Swimming Pools (Drank)” and “Poetic Justice” alongside new TDE artist, SZA.
