Here’s the deal: a secretive Wu-Tang Clan album, only one copy available, up for auction in hopes of garnering a multimillion dollar bid.
The RZA revealed to Forbes earlier this year that he has a Wu LP that’s been six years in the making, titled The Wu—Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, that was made in secrecy and will not be sold via retail, be it digital or brick and mortar stores.
This project is in addition to their next commercial release, A Better Tomorrow, which will go on sale, it seems, as soon as RZA and Raekwon reconcile.
The former project, however, will be up for bid soon and the winner will gain not only unheard music by one of hip-hop’s most history groups but the hand-made packaging (boxes inside boxes).
Forbes sent a writer to Morocco (over 3,500 miles from NYC) where the album is physically being produced, to gain a preview and expound more on the story of this unconventional release.
Watch the 13-minute video of the writer talking with a RZA crony about the project and to discover all the insight you could ever imagine.
Be patient, and once you hit the nine-minute mark, you’ll get a snippet of Ghostface spitting, a familiar intensity from the beloved MC.
Now, let’s figure out a way to pull our resources together and cop this album?
