But despite having Knicks season tickets and directing countless films in his home city, the iconic director has never been honored much by the Big Apple. Well, that changed fast. Lee revealed in an Instagram posting that the City of New York has bestowed upon him and his classic film, “Do The Right Thing,” the honor of renaming the block where the shot the movie as Do The Right Thing Way.
