Justing Beiber isn’t in the running for Man of the Year with his recent remarks where the singer, then 15, make disparaging racial jokes. The Candian star, now 20, has released his own statement owning up to his mistakes as youthful ignorance. But when the second video was released, it opened a wound that was trying to close.
Now, the singer’s mentor, Usher Raymond, has released a statement via Instagram, on the heels of the pair attending a wedding together in upstate New York at the behest of Beiber’s manager, Scooter Braun.
“As I have watched Justin Bieber navigate difficult waters as a young man, I can tell you that he hasn’t always chosen the path of his greatest potential, but he is unequivocally not a racist,” Usher said.
He added: “What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs.
“What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes.”
In the wake of this latest controversy, Justin Bieber has baptized himself again, according to TMZ.
The gossip news site is reporting Bieber has taken up with a pastor in recent weeks and was looking to complete the ceremony at a church before word was leaked and instead he chose to undertake the process at a friend’s home.
