It’s been the talk of town. After 15 years, Angie Martinez announced her resignation from Hot 97 yesterday. The news left fans in question of what her next move would be. Speculation pointed in the direction of competing New York radio station Power 105.1.
The Breakfast Club announced this morning that Angie would be joining the team. She’s set to host a new afternoon show from 2-6pm at Power and air on 103.6 The Beat in Miami for a midday show. DJ prostyle will be moving his original 2pm slot to 10am in order to make room for his new co-worker. We can expect to hear more of her starting in July.

The Power family has welcomed Angie with open arms.

Looks like she’s not going far and will in fact remain to be, “The Voice of New York.” In addition to hosting the new show on Power, she’s also set to air on 103.5 The Beat in Miami for a midday show.“Angie is the Queen of New York City radio – she is an incredible talent who continues to blaze trails and we are excited to have her join the team at Power 105.1 and The Beat in Miami,” said Thea Mitchem, Clear Channel Senior VP of Programming via a press release. “Angie has a long, successful history and we look forward to expanding her distinctive style and compelling content to more of our listeners.”

“I want to thank, Thea Mitchem, Tom Poleman and Doc Wynter for this incredible opportunity,” said Martinez via a press released. “I’m excited to join Power 105.1 in New York and The Beat in Miami and expand my brand even further in the coming months.” We want to congratulate Angie and wish her the best of luck. We’ll be tuned in!
