It feels like Dame Dash has been embroiled in lawsuits ever since the demise of Roc-A-Fella Records, but at least he’s had a lawyer to fight those cases. Now it seems even his lawyer’s got beef.
The Jasmine Brand has obtained paperwork that reveals Dame’s lawyer John Fazzio has asked a judge to stop representing Dash in court because Fazzio hasn’t been paid. The documents from Fazzio say the following:
“I have consistently communicated with Defendant Dash, and his representatives, asking for them to assist with their defense and asking them to cure large outstanding balances owed to the Firm, and indicated repeatedly that the Firm would be making this motion to withdraw as counsel if the pattern of non-responsiveness and non-compliance with their payment obligations continued and if the outstanding bill for services rendered to date was not paid.”
Dash is currently involved in two lawsuits. The first involves Dwayne Walker, who is suing Dame, Jay and Universal Music Group for failing to pay him for his work designing the Roc-A-Fella logo, which Walker claims he created. The second involves Curren$y, whose Jet Life Recordings label is suing Dash for payments involving the releases of Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II with Curren$y’s permission.
