One of hip-hop’s greatest mysteries has finally been solved. During an episode of ESPN’s “Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable,” Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones asked New York Knicks legend John Starks if he was indeed the member of the NBA’s original New York franchise who was robbed and cuckold by The Notorious B.I.G., a fable documented on his 1997 track, “I Got A Story To Tell.”
While many theories abound (this one presented by yours truly in 2012) about which member of the Knicks Biggie was rapping about, Starks finally came clean.
“First and foremost I’m not 6’5, I’m 6′ 2″,” Starks clarifies referencing one of the lines in the song. “So it couldn’t have been about me. I know who it was about, but I can’t tell you.”
So a player on The Knicks really did walk into his house to smell Biggie’s machine gun funk in the air? Somebody get Hubert Davis on the phone.
