T.I. praised his predecessor Andre 3000 in a new interview with Hard Knock TV, speaking on 3 Stacks’ recent role in the Jimi Hendrix biopic [Read our review here]. Having success with movies of his own, Tip commends him for remaining “multifaceted and diverse” and claims that OutKast as a whole are the new generation’s Run D.M.C.
“I saw a clip from him in the Jimi Hendrix film and it was phenomenal,” said T.I. “OutKast is our Run DMC, period. You know what I mean? And he definitely has shown how to remain multifaceted and diverse. And how to evolve as an artist, as an actor, whatever. And still remain true to you. So, I think that that to me is—That’s what 3000 and not just Andre, but that’s what OutKast embodies.”
The face of the Hustle Gang also came to the defense of the first lady of the gang, Iggy Azalea. He said that Iggy shouldn’t be judged by her nationality and should be recognized for her work ethic and contributions to music overall.
“I think she should be judged based on that rather than her creed, her nationality, her—What country she’s from. I think all of that—Those are stereotypes,” said T.I.
As for what genre of music he considers Iggy, technically Tip doesn’t specify but he did say that she should be placed wherever she’s killing it. That’s definitely something I’m most can agree with. Whether it be pop or rap, the numbers on those charts cannot lie. Check out the full interview here.
