Pras Michel, the former one-third of the Fugees, is suing the New York Post for an article that is said to be pure slander. Last week, the NY Post published an article that claimed he ditched his own 9/11 benefit concert in Hell’s Kitchen.
According to The Source, Michel is responding with a defamation lawsuit, in which he clearly states that “he never guaranteed a performance.” Michel also claims that he “has never owned nor been an owner, director or officer of the Foundation” and that the “the event had nothing to do with 9/11.”
The article in question also claimed that the event was to benefit Pras’ foundation Hope for Them, which provides help to the poor in Haiti. The founder Mike Jean had told the writers of the article that Pras “was not a board member,” however the article was still published on their website.
There has been no official statement from the New York Post regarding the status of the writers in question or their stance on the lawsuit. We will bring you more information as the story develops.
