Is Young Money About To Implode?

At one point in time, Young Money was one of the most consistent and popular record labels in the game. While front runners Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj were dominating the charts with their records, other members of the team, like Tyga, Lil Twist, and young singer Torion, were working on their own music with the mindset that the label would support them 100%.

Recently, they haven’t been happy with YMCMB.

Over the weekend, Tyga revealed that his upcoming album The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty is being “held hostage” by the label. If the album is completed, then what could be the hold up? While the label hasn’t officially responded, it looks like Tyga might just let the album leak if there’s no resolution.

“Gold album been done. My label holding me hostage so I can’t release nothing. Might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it,” Tyga tweeted.

The series of tweets made Nicki Minaj unfollow him and prompted a response from YMCMB president Mack Maine. “Don’t forget about puttin limes in coconuts!!! What you “rep” didn’t make you or build you!!,” said Maine attempting to make a point on what the label has done for the “Rack City” rapper. But T-RAWW simply replied, “It’s about growth not maintaining.”

Lil Twist also took to Twitter to release his frustrations toward Young Money by claiming that they are “the worst management team in the history of management teams.” Twist was supposed to drop his second installment of The Golden Child which is hosted by DJ Drama. The tape was set to drop Oct. 1 but, according to Twist, missed the date because of “his team.”

With major players Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj still leading the roster, other artists like Corey Gunz, Euro, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz and rap group W3 The Future are still dropping records and holding up the team. Blonde bombshell Chanel West Coast and singer Christina Milian aka “Tina Turn Up” were recently added to the roster but hasn’t made as much noise.

Between Tyga and Lil Twist’s problems and singer Torion’s attempt to ditch out on his contract last year, it seems like a storm is brewing within Young Money. With Drake fixated on OVO Sounds and Birdman spending all his time with Rich Gang’s Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug, is the label going through some growing pains? With Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V dropping later this month, it might not happen now but if more issues are brought to the surface, it will be a bumpy road for the Young Money imprint in 2015.
