When it was announced that Chris Rock was returning to SNL to host, you knew that it was going to be controversial. The Brooklyn born comedian has never pulled punches and his opening monologue took on two very sensitive subjects, the bombing of the Boston Marathon and construction of The Freedom Tower in the footprint of the World Trade Center.
“Have you seen the Freedom Tower? You can see it no matter where you’re at,” he says. “If you can’t see it from here, then you’re in Connecticut. But they should change the name from the Freedom Tower to the ‘Never Going In There Tower,’ because I’m never going in there. There is no circumstance that will ever get me in that building…does this building duck? What are they thinking? who is the corporate sponsor, Target?”
Wow. If that offended you he says you should prepare to be even more disgusted by the inevitable commercialization of the 9/11 memorial. Watch the full monologue above.
Rock also plays a member of ISIS on “Shark Tank”
A political pundit on “How’s He Doin”…
And a father trying to keep his daughter from twerking on Youtube
How would you grade Chris Rock’s performance on SNL?
