Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has officially signed with Roc Nation sports. Bryant is set to be a free agent by the end of the season and made the move from his former agent Eugene Parker to Hov’s management agency, joining other major players like Hakeem Nicks, Geno Smith, and NY Giant Victor Cruz.
“I deserve it,” he told ESPN a while back. “I feel like I do. I put the work in, but I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback.”
Once his current 5-year deal comes to an end, Bryant is hoping to sign a new deal that would pay him at least $13 million a year. While some may believe that he’s all about the contract, Bryant’s move to Roc Nation was more about the marketing opportunities with his current sponsors. After his short-lived Under Armour deal, Bryant recently signed a new deal with Jordan Brand and feels Jay Z’s team can help him extend his reach.
“I feel like it fits me,” Bryant told ESPN after Sunday’s 28-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. “It fits what I’m trying to do, what I’m trying to accomplish in life. I want to be the best that I can possibly be. It ain’t about a contract. It’s about me branding myself and being an icon for these kids. I love kids and they look up to me.”
