Last night in Williamsburg, Freddie Gibbs performed at Rough Trade NYC to a rabid audience of fans. But apparently, there were others in the vicinity that had other plans.
After the show, as Gibbs was getting into his car, two gunmen reportedly approached the vehicle and opened fire ten times. Freddie’s DJ Izzo was hit once in the leg, but no one suffered serious injuries otherwise.
Following the incident Gibbs posted the cryptic message, “Yep. Still Livin. Thanks NYC.” on his Twitter and Instagram pages to let his fans know that he was ok.
Gibbs is known for being outspoken and he comes from one of the roughest places in the U.S. – Gary, Indiana – but the question on everyone’s mind now is, “Who in New York wants to hurt Freddie Gibbs?” He’s even got a crib here now. What gives?
