Kendrick Lamar has been running around on the promo trail and hit up Devi Dev at 93.7 The Beat during his stop in Houston. While he has spoken on the deep message behind his new single “i,” K. dot expanded on his explanation stating that he went through his own state of depression while making the single.
“[It’s been] facing my life not only then but even now, in these recent years of being in the limelight and trying to deal with and balance your personal life with the music,” Kendrick told Devi Dev. “There comes a lot of turmoil when you talking about money, fame, fortune and success. There’s a lot of things you got to handle and balance, and that brings a whole lot of depression.”
Along with the single, Devi and Kendrick spoke about his upcoming SNL appearance, his good kid, m.a.a.d city cover, the true vision behind the official video for “i” and if acting will be in the TDE rapper’s future. Kendrick also revealed that his upcoming album may be coming sooner than we think, despite Peter Rosenberg’s claim that the album would drop in 2015.
