Joe Budden has almost 900,000 followers on Twitter and has probably engaged with each one. The Jersey MC has earned a well-deserved reputation for turning the social network into his personal playground, 140 characters at a time. Sometime is unhinged commentary leaves followers all in their feelings like an anesthesiologist. However, Budden insists that he is no troll.
“My tweets on social media are very misconstrued,” he tells WatchLOUD.com. “I wouldn’t say that I get people amped by design. I don’t plan it that way. It’s all entertainment to me. People just be looking for a reason to be fake outraged about sh*t. That’s all. People be so fake. Let’s have a fake angry debate.”
When Budden isn’t engaged in debates about $200 dates he is breaking rules of time and space tweeting from jail. Not Twitter jail, but real jail.
“A lot of people say they follow me on twitter because it seems that I don’t have a filter,” he says. “Which I do understand that vantage point. But I think it’s all filtered. I don’t tweet about anything that I have a vested interest in or that I care about. I tweet about a bunch of sh*t that doesn’t matter at all…I’m not putting anything that I cherish or hold sacred on social media. I don’t want to hear from a bunch of strangers acting as part time life coaches because I’m putting some sh*t in the stratosphere that shouldn’t be there.”
“We’ve all been there before when we hit send on something and wish we could hit un-send. But as you mature, you learn to not do that…as frequently.”
