Royce Da 5’9″, DJ premier and Adrian Younge held their first of many shows for the release of their joint album PRhyme. The Detroit rapper and the legendary producer shut down Santos Party Haus in New York City with some of the best in the game coming through to show love and support the project. As part of the celebration, Royce and Preemo got a chance to connect with the fans and signed copies of their album before the main festivities popped off.
Statik Selektah kicked off the show with his mix of Premier and Royce hits along with music off his recent release What Goes Around. Following his set, the third member of the PRhyme crew Adrien Younge took over the ones and twos and turned the crowd on to some of the most classic instrumentals to date. He played songs that your rapper’s favorite rapper have most likely sampled during their career.
Royce and Preem hit the stage and performed several joints like “U Looz”, “To Me, To You” and the title track “PRhyme.” In between their set, two-thirds of the LOX, Jadakiss and Styles P, surprised the crowd with their hit “We Gonna Make It.” Of course, the show wouldn’t haven’t been the same without a Slaughterhouse appearance. Crooked I, Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz came through to support Royce and performed a couple tracks from their group album and “Microphone Preem” from PRhyme. After their set, the Shady Records crew confirmed that their album will drop in 2015.
