This is strange. After releasing monthly EPs to little fanfare, Cam’ron took to Instagram today to announce he’d be dropping Purple Haze 2 in the summer of 2015, and it will be his last album.
In the short clip above, he visits his late Harlem friend Huddy 6’s gravestone as Otis Redding’s “A Change Gonna Come” plays wistfully. “It’s been fun…but HUD said we got other things to do,” said Cam in the caption.
It seems unlikely that Cam would bow out this early, considering how often rappers retire only to come back. Two of Cam’s nemeses – Jay Z and Ma$e – have announced retirement and later returned to the rap game. It’s almost like a rite of passage by now.
Is Purple Haze 2 a good idea?
