White People Really Love Blackalicious’ “Alphabet Aerobics”

For the second time in the last two months or so rap group Blackalicious has inspired spontaneous karaoke tendencies in mainstream America. In late October actor Daniel Radcliffe showed off his ability to recite the group’s beloved “Alphabet Aerobics” on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, noting his addiction to memorizing, “complicated lyrically, intricate and fast songs.”

Now just months later a news reporter who simply goes by “Kimalicious” showed off her on-air warm up skills by reciting the track from the group’s 1999 EP, A2G.

Blackalicious, a Sacremento based group made up of MC Gift Of Gab and DJ/Producer Chief Xcel released their first full-length album Nia in 1999 but really broke through with their 2002 follow-up Blazing Arrow which contained the hits, “Make You Feel That Way” and “Nowhere Fast.”

Listen to the original “Alphabetical Aerobics” performed by Gift Of Gab in the video above and wait to see if any local meteorologists get a hold of “Chemical Calisthenics.

And if you think we’re overstating the headline, look at how many times “AA” has been played on Spotify vs any of their other top-rated songs.
