Bay Area rapper Lil’ B escaped a fire in his duplex early Thursday morning after his neighbor, a 15-year-old named Mateo Ysmael, pounded on his door and told him what was happening.

“I’ve got to thank the Contra Costa Fire folks for doing such an amazing job keeping it contained,” he continued. “They were extraordinary. It could’ve been so much worse than it was. Like I said, I’m grateful to be alive.”
