Karlie Hustle has been hired by 9th Wonder’s Jamla Records as their new Director of Brand Relations. The former Hot 97 music director stepped down from her position at the radio station back in August. In her farewell Instagram post, she also said that she would be exploring “a host of new possibilities” that she has been offered. It looks like she took advantage of one of those opportunities with the Jamla fam.
“For years, I have championed independent artists under the confines of various corporate infrastructures,” Karlie Hustle told HipHopDX. “It was tough, but I celebrated a few good wins. One of those wins became a relationship with 9th and Rapsody that has now led me to this new position. I’m so excited to be hands-on with an independent label like Jamla Records. I now get to be an even more integral part of the successes of artists that I am already such a huge fan of. Our goals to contribute to the culture in a meaningful way are so aligned, that it didn’t much surprise me when 9th called me at the top of the year with this opportunity. Thank you to 9th Wonder and the Jamla Records team. I am humbled to be a part of such an important movement in the current Hip Hop climate.”
Karlie Hustle has dedicated a majority of her career to radio as well as building up her own K. Hustle brand. Before her time at Hot 97, she served as program director for KKFR/Phoenix in Arizona. She also worked with Ebro at KXJM/Portland back in 2002 before he made his move to the East coast. Congratulations to Karlie Hustle for her new position with Jamla Records!
