Lil Wayne has kept us waiting long enough. The Young Money CEO has finally released his next installment of the highly-anticipated Sorry For The Wait. The mixtape has several new tracks with Drake, Christina Millian, Mack Maine and 2 Chainz. The 17-track project also allowed Weezy to go in on his beef with Birdman’s Cash Money Records over some of the most popular beats of the past year including OT Genesis’ “Coco” and Future’s “Sh!t.”
In Wayne’s version of “Coco,” he rapped that he’s the one responsibile for Cash Money’s ongoing success and fires some subliminal shots to the label. “Tha Carter gon’ be late so I cooked up a tape,” he said in the intro, “The garden’s full of snakes so I had to escape.”
“Who kept this shit together? Nigga, me, that’s who,” he raps in the opening bars, “Who was there when niggas left? Nigga, me, that’s who / Cash Money is an army, I’m a one man army / And if them niggas comin’ for me, I’m goin’ out like Tony.”
He also addressed his issues in his rendition of “Sh!t.” He continued to trash talk Cash Money and Birdman with bars like “Did my time in Cash Money, time served and released.” He continued with “But this agent ain’t free, word, that’s the word on these streets / But that shit is old news, that shit is so yesterweek.”
Strong words from the leading artist in YMCMB. But will this push them to drop Tha Carter V sooner than later? Let us know what you think. Download the mixtape here.
