The memory of A$AP Yams’ death is still fresh in the minds of many, especially those associated with the A$AP Mob. However, members like A$AP Ferg aren’t letting themselves drown in the sorrow of losing one of their closets friends. Vlad TV caught up with Ferg at VH1’s Save The Music community service event during MLK weekend. Ferg is still somewhat sensitive about talking about Yams, yet being around his fans makes him forget about the tragic situation.
“I came back because that’s something Yams would have did,” Yams told Aladdin. “No matter what ups and downs we go through, I’m a strong believer of being around people and letting people give me happiness.”
Ferg let the good feeling of community service overpower his mental for a couple of hours as he met with fans while giving back to the community through art. Ferg wants to avoid getting caught up in the negative thoughts over the death of his friend by using the experience to spread positivity.
Last weekend, Yams aka Steven Rodriguez, was found unresponsive by his roommate on the floor of his home in Brooklyn. With no visible signs of trauma, Yams was transported to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The NYPD has revealed that the cause of Yams’ death is “pending further studies.” However, A$AP Mob affiliate Joey Fatts tweeted (then deleted) that the cause of Yams’ death could have been a result of “severe sleep apnea,” which is what supposedly killed UGK member Pimp C.
