Considering that he’s only released two mix tapes, Chance The Rapper has built up an extraordinary amount of hype over the last four years. We still have no idea when (and if) this hype will lead to a commercial album in the future, but if it does, we now know who will be featured on it.
During an interview with GQ, Chance let loose that should his debut LP see release, Frank Ocean, J. Cole, and Andre 3000 will be involved somehow. Talk about co-signs.
Chance’s live shows are a major part of his appeal, and he also revealed that he has something very theatrical in the works for his next tour. “The musical theater aspect of the show that we want to do is a lot about exclusivity,” Chance says. “I think creating a space that you can only see in the moment is really important. I like the fact that some of your favorite Broadway musicals are not made into movies.”
What do Chance and his backing band The Social Experiment have in store for us? If these claims, the handful of singles they’ve been letting loose, and his philanthropic nature are any indication, it’s going to be grand and soulful.
