*UPDATE: The L.A. Times reports that Suge Knight turned himself in to authorities early Friday morning. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held for $2 million bail. TMZ is also claiming Knight was in a physical altercation with Cle “Bone” Sloane, who was also injured, prior to the incident. Sloane was apparently Suge’s intended target, not Carter.
Suge Knight, former CEO of Death Row Records, was involved in a fatal hit and run at a Compton, CA-area movie lot this afternoon, and is looking to turn himself in.
Knight showed up to the set of a movie project somehow involving Ice Cube and Dr. Dre (most likely the upcoming Straight Outta Compton) and was told to leave the lot by security before being confronted by two men, according to TMZ. Knight hopped back into his car out of fear, turned the key, and reversed out of the lot in a rush — right over the body of Terry Carter, a friend of his who was trying to hop into the passenger seat, but just so happened to be behind the car when Suge took off.
Carter suffered fatal injuries that led to his death. Also injured was actor Cle “Bone” Sloane, who’s in the hospital with minor injuries. It’s been reported that there’s an APB out for Knight and that his lawyer is working out the arrangements of his surrender, and given the context of the situation, it’s unclear whether he’d be arrested for hit and run or manslaughter charges.
