Chicago MC Chance The Rapper hasn’t slowed his roll in any way since he dropped his Acid Rap mixtape back in 2013. He’s been dropping features like crazy and serving as a community leader of sorts in Chi-Town. Just a few days ago, he hosted an open mic night for Chicago high schoolers.
In an interview with comedian Hannibal Buress that he conducted through Interview Magazine, Chance let some secrets slip. Namely, he’s gonna be dropping his next project with no warning, à la Beyoncé’s eponymous album from 2013. “The album is very much so a Beyoncé kind of thing,” he revealed. “So I can’t say the date of the project, but I can say that it’s super dope.”
Chance also let slip that he read for the part of Dr. Dre in the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton (“It wasn’t in God’s plan…”), that he plans on touring after the release of Surf, his official collab with his backing band The Social Experiment (maybe with Donald Glover?), and talks about the connections between the hip-hop and comedy communities. It’s good to sit back and see friends being friends.
