Former Portland Trail Blazer Jerome Kersey unexpectedly passed away at the age of 52, according to The Oregonian. His death came as a surprise to many, considering that he had given a speech on behalf of the Trail Blazers the day before at a Portland area high school.
Kersey joined the Trail Blazers in 1984 and played wight he team for 11 years as a small forward and remained an integral part of the organization after his retirement in 2001, serving as an assistant summer coach, among other things. He was ranked second on the all-time list of game played with 831 and rebounds with 5,078, and ranked third in blocked shots with 621 and steals with 1,059.
