Wu-Tang’s Once Upon A Time In Shaolin Might Be Released Commercially In 88 Years

Remember Wu-Tang Clan’s secret project Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, the one-of-a-kind album that’s going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder by Paddle8? According to Forbes, it stands a chance of being released in an official, commercial manner…in just under a century.

Producer Cilvaringz detailed the agreement, saying that “After 88 years the copyright, which includes public and commercial rights, automatically transfers to the owner of the work,” but that the buyer could still choose to leak the album for free if they so choose. So it’s up to the buyer to decide whether or not the public is worthy of listening to an album that’s most likely better than A Better Tomorrow. According to The RZA, the number 88 holds significance to the Wu because it’s the number of original members in Wu-Tang and 8 is the sum of the digits 2015.

The buyer won’t just have bragging rights, however. Whoever wins will also receive the official track listing of the album, which has been kept closely under wraps, and a 174 leather-bound book accompanying the coveted double LP. How badly do you want to wrap your ears around this LP?
