Jay Electronica Is Speaking At The Oxford Union

Jay Electronica is known for being notoriously reclusive, but has been coming out of his shell the past couple of months. He toured as an opening act for Common near the end of last year and just recently dropped the fiery single “Road To Perdition” last week, but he’s bringing his ideology to a different plane: the debate room.

The Oxford Union, a UK debate team affiliated with Oxford University, is hosting an upcoming discussion with the New Orleans-born but now London-based emcee who will be joined by Nation of Islam minister Dr. Wesley Muhammad. “Jay became affiliated with the Nation of Islam & The Five Percent Nation for whom he has acted as a mouthpiece since,” the Union’s Facebook even page reads. “Jay’s public appearances are rare, and his reputation controversial. Also participating in the discussion will be author, historian, scholar and minister in the Nation of Islam: Dr. Wesley Muhammad. Dr. Muhammad represents one of the most highly regarded voices in the field of Islamic studies, who has been combining science, theology and philosophy to contribute to the ever-evolving academic discourse over the past twenty years.”

With the political unrest and racial biases happening in the United States and Jay’s strong opinions, this is sure to be an electrifying discussion. Here’s hoping they send a video over to the States. Check out the Facebook event page here. Listen to “Road To Perdition” above.
