5 O’Clock Beat Drop: DP, Janine And The Mixtape, Main Attrakionz, and Tunji Ige

So many rap songs drop every day, it’s hard to keep track of them all. That’s why we do the 5 O’Clock Beat Drop to collect the best (and sometimes worst) songs of the day in one, easy to find post for your convenience.

DP – “Imperial/Motives” (Prod. by Sir Yogaflame & Caleb Stone)

Each new DP song only proves what we’ve known all along – the V.A. rapper is dead nice. Today he drops a two-for-one, and hopefully both of these make it on to his upcoming Designer Casket EP. That bar mitzvah is coming soon, too.

Janine And The Mixtape – “This Moment (Eckhart Tolle)” [Prod. by 4E]

Bump this if you fuck with FKA Twigs, because unlike Twigs, Janine And The Mixtape isn’t a chore to listen to. Her voice is lush, her songwriting is powerful, and her new song “This Moment” is a perfect intro to her music. Produced by the 4E duo, her new track builds and falls at all the right moments, constantly pulling you in until the very end. It’s her delicate voice above all else that puts a hold on you.

Tunji Ige – “Moving” (Feat. Grande Marshall and Wara From The NBHD) [Prod. by Tunji Ige and Ben Pramuk]

Pennsylvania rapper Tunji Ige is one of the more reliable new artists bubbling on the scene, and today he drops a collab with WatchLOUD favorite Grande Marshall and Wara From The NBHD called “Moving.” Tunji produced it with help from the immensely talented Ben Pramuk, and thank god for the drums on this shit. All three spitters come correct on this one.

Main Attrakionz – “G.O. Style” (Feat. Dope G, Robby Rob and Lo 4) [Prod. by Friendzone]

Fans have been waiting for the next Main Attrakionz album 808s and Dark Grapes III for years now, and today we get news that it’s finally dropping May 12 via Viper Records. Above is the latest cut from the LP, with help from a couple affiliates of the Oakland-based Green Ova crew. Sounds like appropriate summer music.
