5 O’Clock Beat Drop: Charles Hamilton, Bobby Raps, Amerie, & More

So many rap songs drop every day, it’s hard to keep track of them all. That’s why we do the 5 O’Clock Beat Drop to collect the best (and sometimes worst) songs of the day in one, easy to find post for your convenience.

Lorine Chia – Purple Skies & Blue Rain

Cleveland songstress Lorine Chia is well-respected on the rap/R&B scene, and today she floats beautiful vocals on her new tape, which features classic samples, Ratatat beats, and good Spring vibes. Peep it above.

Bobby Raps – “wuhUwahnMi2du” (Prod. by Bobby Raps)

Bobby Raps, member of TheSt4ndard with Psymun, Allan Kingdom, and Spooky Black, channels OG Maco on “U Guessed It” for his new self-produced track. With energy as infectious as his, Bobby is about to make some noise this year.

Charles Hamilton – “Headed To The Top” (Prod. by Oddisee)

Peter Rosenberg apparently let this unreleased gem after Charles revealed that he had it in the vault, and it’s very reminiscent of the Charles Hamilton many of us were once fans of.

Amerie – “Out Loud” (Prod. by Rich Harrison)

Amerie’s last album was released in 2009, and it featured the smash hit “One Thing,” produced by Rich Harrison and filled with drums. Five years later, it seems the two are trying to ride down the same lane with “Out Loud,” Amerie’s wonderful new single. Hear it above.
