Charles Hamilton stopped by Power 105 to talk about everything that’s been going on in his life with Angie Martinez. Since he stepped back into the spotlight earlier this year, Hamilton has opened up a lot more about his bipolar disorder and how he has been coping with it. He said that he’s a lot happier than he was before and claimed that his medications have helped him significantly. The “Correct” rapper also told Angie about his past music and how some of his lyrics were really just a cry for help.
“I beat myself down a lot… a lot,” said Hamilton. “But it’s not necessarily something I regret. It made me stronger.”
The conversation shifted to his new record deal with Republic Records. He explained how his music has changed since he’s been receiving the help he needs and also gave some brief details about the type of material his new label wants him to focus on for his next body of work. He also spoke on his new song “NY Raining” with Rita Ora, which will appear in the finale of “Empire.” Watch the interview in full above.
