Co-founder of the A$AP Mob, A$AP Yams died unexpectedly back in January. Many people who were close to him, including his cohorts in the A$AP Mob (Rocky, Ferg, etc.), held his cause of death very close to the chest as they mourned the loss of their friend, but the New York Chief Medical Examiner’s autopsy report on Yams, real name Steven Rodriguez, became public knowledge today.
New York Times reporter Jon Caramancia tweeted Yams’ official cause of death earlier this afternoon, and sadly, it turns out that the speculation surrounding his death was true:
Yams was known in the hip-hop community as a pretty wild guy, and he ingested a lethal cocktail with at least opiates and benzodiazepine that led to his untimely death. The world of hip-hop will never be the same without his contributions. Rest in peace, Yams.
