5 O’Clock Beat Drop: Action Bronson, Ka, Young Scooter, & More

So many rap songs drop every day, it’s hard to keep track of them all. That’s why we do the 5 O’Clock Beat Drop to collect the best (and sometimes worst) songs of the day in one, easy to find post for your convenience.

Action Bronson – “Falconry” (Feat. Meyhem Lauren & Big Body Bes)

Sounds like Bronson has a whole host of different sounds on his upcoming album Mr. Wonderful, like “Falconry,” which harkens back to the days when you’d threaten to roof a basketball if shit didn’t go your way on the court. Have you seen how wet Bronson’s jumpshot is, by the way?

Ka – “Dr. Yen Lo, Day 3” (Prod. by Preservation)

Rap fans are so funny. It’s like Kendrick said on To Pimp A Butterfly – if y’all were really worried about rappity rap, Killer Mike would be platinum. And if you really wanted better rap music, then Ka would have a much bigger buzz. But he seems to like it this way, quiet and subdued, and his latest offering from his upcoming album Days With Dr. Yen Lo mirrors that approach.

Flatbush Zombies – “Did U Ever Think” (Feat. Joey Bada$$ & Issa Gold) [Prod. by The Architect]

A classic drum breaks goes a long way, and Flatbush Zombies are well aware on their latest single. Their last joint with Skepta is better than this, but we still welcome the noirish shades.

Young Scooter – “Colorado”

ATLien Young Scooter hasn’t been able to replicate the success of his biggest single to date, “Colombia,” but “Colorado” is still better than most of his recent stuff. He doesn’t smoke that Blue Dream bullshit.
