The streets of Los Angeles were flooded with fans of Kendrick Lamar last night. They ran after an 18-wheeler truck that carried a live band and the face of TDE as he performed his classic songs like “Money Trees,” “Backseat Freestyle,” and more from good kid, m.A.A.d city. Along with the stampede of fans running after him, various videographers, police and TDE crew members followed closely behind.

It all started with a simple tweet that quickly blew up with favorites and retweets. “9pm. meet me here. 8950 Sunset Blvd. 930pm. meet me here. 8466 Melrose Ave,” Kendrick posted on his timeline only one hour before. The location along West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip began to fill up with fans within minutes. Once the clock struck 9:00 PM PST, the 18-wheel flat bed truck appeared with Kendrick ready to perform.
The surprise show was part of Reebok’s recent #GetPumped campaign, which Kendrick has been associated with for some time. It’s also the latest shocking move from the Compton rapper, who recently released his critically-acclaimed sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly. Today, the album hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 363,000 units sold in the first week. Check out video from K. Dot’s concert-on-wheels below.
