President Barack Obama is part of the army of fans that “The Wire” has accumulated since its debut over a decade ago. Even though the HBO series ended in 2008, the show is still a trending topic of discussion, especially when it comes to the war on drugs in America. The President had the opportunity to sit down with the show’s creator David Simon to talk about how the show displays the challenges law enforcement face and the consequences communities bear from the war on drugs.
President Obama believes that the show is “one of the greatest pieces of art in the last couple of decades.” Aside from speaking on the national issues that are represented in the show, Obama’s inner fan broke out during their conversation. The POTUS revealed that his favorite character on the show is Omar, played by Michael Kenneth Williams. Watch the interview in full above.
