Speculation led many to believe that this meant the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse would be Jackman’s last appearance as the adamantium-clawed berserker, but The Wolverine director James Marigold confirmed earlier today that Wolvie’s third solo outing will be Jackman’s last:

Unfortunately, it’s time for us to put those hopes of Wolverine making an appearance in Deadpool and  Gambit out of out heads, but at the same time, hopes for an Old Man Logan-esque story are as strong as ever.  The as-of-yet untitled third Wolverine flick will be released on March 2, 2017. Who do you think will be able to handle the burden of playing the iconic X-Man, if anyone?
