Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly Has Broken Another Record

Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore effort has achieved another accomplishment not long after shattering Spotify streaming records. Since its surprise release over two weeks ago, To Pimp A Butterfly has been #1 in the UK and has had six tracks including “The Blacker The Berry” and “King Kunta” hit the Billboard Hot 100. Despite his anger towards his hometown’s record sales, the album has already sold over 318,988 digital copies (355,372 including streams) and 102,113 physical copies (118,199 including streams).

With the numbers from the third week already confirmed, the album has sold 32,543 more units. After adding the numbers from the past two weeks and including streams, the LP has pushed well-over the 500,000 mark necessary to achieve Gold status. If it only took him 21 days to reach Gold, imagine how long it will take until the album goes Platinum. Congratulations to Kendrick!
