It’s that time of year. Forbes has released their annual “Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artists” list, which recognizes the highest-earning artists in the game today. In previous income-ranking lists, hip-hop moguls like Dr. Dre, Diddy, and Jay Z have yet to be excluded from the top five. While those three might have shifted places over the years, this year’s highest-earning hip-hop artist is Diddy after racking up $735 million thanks to contributions from Ciroc, his Sean John clothing line, Aquahydrate water, and Revolt.
Dr. Dre came in second place with $700 million in earnings followed by Jay Z, who brought in $550 million. 50 Cent snagged the fourth place slot after bringing $155 million, which is probably due to his earnings from SMS Audio, his new Effen Vodka, and his Frigo underwear brand. Cash Money CEO Birdman closed out the list after bringing in $150 million. Let’s see if he maintains that income if/when YMCMB splits up for good. Check out the top five below plus a brief clip from Forbes, which explains what put these five rapping entrepreneurs on the high-end list.
