Louis C.K.’s First Movie Since 2001’s Pootie Tang Will Be About A Volunteer Cop

Flash back to 2001, when Pootie Tang hit theaters and everyone was trying to talk like, “Sa da tay, sa da taow!” It starred Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes, and J.B. Smoove, but the real genius behind the movie was writer and director Louis C.K. Younger generations immediately fucked with the film, but commercially it didn’t do well, and that led to Paramount taking C.K. off the picture during post-production. He hasn’t done a movie since.

14 years later, Louis is making his return to the big screen with I’m A Cop, an indie movie about a middle-aged schlub of a volunteer cop. His mother was a decorated officer, and when she dies, he reluctantly becomes a police officer.

Considering the coverage of police brutality that’s swept the nation over the past year and change, you have to wonder if any of that will inform the movie. Either way, we’re excited to see what Louis comes to the table with.
