It’s a holiday for bodacious booties across the world. On this day in 1992, Sir Mix-A-Lot changed the world’s view of ass by releasing “Baby Got Back.” The song was the second single off his third album Mack Daddy and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks straight. The song’s success eventually won him a Grammy in 1993 for Best Rap Performance.

After 23 years, the song is alive and well amongst the new generation of artists. Rappers like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Ca$h Out have all sampled the infectious club hit. There are at least eight songs that have sampled a lyric or a portion of the beat.

Nicki Minaj “Ananconda”

Drake “The Motto” (1:54)

Ca$h Out & Juicy J ft. Ty Dolla $ign, Boosie Badazz & Kid Ink “She Twerkin (Remix)” (1:34)

Freekey Zekey ft J.R. Writer “Becky”

While these songs had their own success, the original has become more than a catchy beat for artists to overuse.
