We all knew Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift’s collaboration in “Bad Blood” was coming for some time. The announcement that Kendrick Lamar would be starring as “Welvin Da Great” in the clip seemed to discouraged people at first, since it’s an obvious nod to the social media sensation. However, after the video made its debut, we realized that not only is Kendrick’s role in the visual better than expected, but he also contributed two new verses to make the song bigger than before.
The mini action film features Swift as the lead heroine “Catastrophe.”
Who gets double-crossed by her evil partner “Arsyn” aka Selena Gomez.
Kendrick Lamar’s character “Welvin Da Great” isn’t tricking anyone with “Deez Nuts” phone pranks. Instead, he runs Catastrophe’s team of crime-fighting vixens from an office the creator of Tron wish he had.
Welvin & Catastrophe lounge around the team’s training base while he’s rapping and chilling in an invisible sports car.
Meanwhile, her team of super models and actresses train to strengthen their respective skills. “Girls” Lena Dunham, “Empire” newbie Serayah, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellie Goulding, Paramore singer Hayley Williams, Zendaya, Jessica Alba, Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, and Cara Delevingne are just a few who will fight to the death in Catastrophe’s honor.
Catastrophe also gets a nod of encouragement from “Law & Order: SVU”‘s Mariska Hargitay & “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo before heading off into battle.
Swift truly gathered a band of beauties to take revenge on Selena Gomez, uh I mean Arsyn. Watch how the battle ends in the visual below.
