NBA free agency was winding down when Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban revealed that he’d reached a verbal agreement with Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.
However, late Wednesday night news was breaking that Jordan had a change of heart and would be staying in L.A with Doc Rivers and his “Lob City” teammates. It was rumored that Jordan sat and played cards with his teammates after the brief meeting.
Sources say Jordan, in a Wednesday meeting at his Houston home with several Los Angeles teammates and top team officials, left the Clippers with the clear message that he intends to renege on Friday’s commitment to sign a four-year, $80-plus million max deal with the Mavericks and re-sign a lucrative deal with the Clippers instead.
The potential flip-flop sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy.
