1998’s Blade was the movie that kicked off Hollywood’s obsession with comic book movies, two years before X-Men opened to $54 million in 2000. Star Wesley Snipes has experienced career peaks and valleys in that time (he did time for tax fraud/evasion from 2010-2013), but he’s been grinding steadily since his release.
While promoting his new NBC series The Player earlier today (July 9) at San Diego Comic Con, Snipes let loose that he’d been talking with Marvel about coming back to play the vampire hunter for a new generation. “The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things,” Snipes said in an interview with Deadline.com. “I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”
Even if Blade is off the table (and we wouldn’t blame them after having seen Blade: Trinity), Snipes still wants to “be a part of the family again.” If that’s the case, who would you want to see Wesley Snipes play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
