Did The Black Eyed Peas Copy Erykah Badu’s “Honey” Music Video?

Over the weekend, The Black Eyed Peas, the best pop-rap outfit for all of a year and a half, surprise dropped a music video for a new song called “Yesterday”. In it, the trio (sans Fergie, for some reason) is nostalgically digging through vinyl at a record shop and inserting themselves onto classic album covers – just like someone else we know.

Soul queen supreme Erykah Badu took to Twitter yesterday to call the group out for their apparent Xeroxing of her music video:

Regardless of how ironic the idea of calling inserting yourself into someone else’s album artwork “original” is, there’s definitely some plagiarism going on here. At least they didn’t also “borrow” the black-and-white/colored album covers color scheme(?)
