Compton boys N.W.A. are largely to thank for gangsta rap blowing up in the mainstream the way it did back when Straight Outta Compton was unleashed on the world back in 1988. The legacies of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Eazy-E will live on forever in the world of hip-hop, but for a more immediate fix, it looks like the remainder of the old crew is getting back together.
In honor of the F. Gary Gray-directed biopic Straight Outta Compton hitting theaters next month, Universal Studios is attempting to put together a reunion tour for the crew throughout Europe – with Eminem as their fifth man, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “We don’t have anything settled yet with everyone’s schedules, but we think it can create a lot of buzz,” said Universal chief Donna Langley.
Know that when news of the tour’s official schedule drops, we’ll be first in line to see them when (and if) they bring that show stateside.
