*UPDATE: Chance revealed Tokiyo, D.R.A.M., & Metro Boomin’ as the opening acts on the tour, along with Australian soul outfit Hiatus Kaiyote playing Philadelphia, New York, and Boston dates.*
Few modern independent artists have cultivated a fanbase the way Chance The Rapper has. He’s got over 1 million followers on Twitter, sells merchandise like crazy, plays shows constantly, and released the first “free” album on iTunes in the music service’s history this past June (which was almost narrated by Kanye West) – all without signing to a label. Whatever’s going on behind the scenes, Chance has unique appeal that transcends the boundaries of independent and mainstream, and he’s officially bringing his wild live show on the road once again.
Just this afternoon (July 28), Chance posted a promo picture with tour dates for the “Family Matters” Tour to social media.
It appears to be the Lion King-inspired show that he’s been hyping up for months now (most notably in an interview with Billboard Magazine), complete with special guests in tow. The tour will be tearing up the US throughout October/November, so keep an eye out for tickets and special guest announcements!
