Uncle Luke, or Luke Skyywalker, or just Luther Campbell, is as cool as ever. In the ’80s he helped bring Miami Bass to the mainstream as the leader of the 2 Live Crew, but what you might not have known is that Luke had some beef with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg back in the day too. It apparently originated from a song off Luke’s debut solo album called “Fakin’ Like Gangstas” that took indirect aim at “stars wanting to be gangstas” who were really just pranksters. Dre and Snoop took that the wrong way and hit back on “Dre Day,” and Luke answered that record with “Cowards in Compton.”
Luke just released a brand new book titled The Book Of Luke, so he dropped by the WatchLOUD HQ to tell us about the Meek vs. Drake situation and how it relates to his beef with Dre back in the day. Watch part one of our interview above, and then watch him talk about his new book below in part two.
