Master P Is Directing A Musical Biopic – About Himself

*UPDATE: AllHipHop reports that Queen Latifah has landed the role of P’s mother in the film.*

It’s no secret at this point that the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton is a gargantuan box office smash, grossing upwards of $60 million this past weekend on a $28 million budget, becoming Universal Studio’s 4th #1 hit at the box office this year. It’s undoubtedly proved the viability of hip-hop films to tap into an audience both young and old (51% of the audience was under 30). Naturally, everyone wants a piece of the magic, and first up to bat is none other than Master P.

The New Orleans rapper/producer/CEO of No Limit Records, born Percy Miller, is currently working on bringing his rags to riches story to the big screen in Ice Cream Man: King Of The South, a project not only co-written, but directed by him as well. That’s a tall order that *might* succumb to some hagiography, but it should still be a hell of a thing to watch. Check out the teaser trailer above and find out more info here.
