With a $60 million opening, Straight Outta Compton is a smash hit, and with all the buzz surrounding the movie, TMZ says there’s already a follow-up in the works.
According to Daz Dillinger, the movie will apparently be called Dogg Pound 4 Life and it will focus on the next chapter of mainstream West Coast rap – specifically, Death Row Records and its biggest artists: Dre, Snoop, Tupac, Warren G, Kurupt, and of course the big, bad Suge Knight.
Now…this is Daz Dillinger we’re talking about, the guy Suge claims produced most of Doggystyle instead of Dre. Daz says this follow-up has Ice Cube’s “stamp of approval,” but it seems highly unlikely Dogg Pound 4 Life will be a major studio sequel to Straight Outta Compton. Dre and Cube aren’t producers on the project, so we can only guess how this one will end up.
