Danny Brown, Thundercat, GoldLink, & More Rocked AfroPunk Fest 2015 [PHOTOS]

New York City flocked to the 10th annual AfroPunk Festival in record numbers this year for another weekend of Black Excellence, and the lineup was worth the heat and lines at the french fry stand. Between big names like Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Kelis, and Lenny Kravitz, and independently thriving artists like Danny Brown, Thundercat, Lion Babe, and Kaytranada, the POC-centered festival had a lot to offer music fans of all stripes this year. The decision to charge for tickets this year (the last nine years were free to the public, with a donation-based “Fast Pass” introduced two years ago) didn’t seem to deter people’s interest in the festival or stain AfroPunk’s overall reputation as a beacon of communal DIY artistic freedom; all of the beautiful fashionistas NYC has to offer didn’t hurt that image, either.
